The
Wuhan 18″ crash ride cymbal is a gem I discovered a few years back
during an exhausting hunt for a cymbal that was awesome, but also price
efficient. And actually, before that, I first used Wuhan cymbals back in
2005. Back then I used their S-Series and rock weighted cymbals, both
of which have been discontinued. I liked them a lot as well. But back to
the crash ride. I had tried other many other brands. I’ve used the
Zildjian K Custom dark crash, Zildjian Avedis crash, Sabian Pro crash,
MCS crash ride, Zildjian Pitch Black crash ride, and also an 18″ Stagg
Black Metal crash. Man, I didn’t realize I had gone through all those. I
included both crashes and crash rides in that list because although the
Wuhan 18″ crash ride can be used as a ride, and very suitably, I have
mainly used it as just a crash. I don’t know that it has quite the ping
quality to use it as a stand-alone ride (at least not for rock music),
but as a crash, wow!!! Out of the list above, only one cymbal matches
the sound quality of the Wuhan 18″ crash ride. That cymbal would be the
Zildjian K Custom dark crash…that’s right, the most expensive one on the
list. To my ears, and to anyone else who has heard the Wuhan, it sounds
just as good as the K Custom, and at a fraction of the price. Check out my website for more
info on the
Wuhan crash ride and other products I think are awesome.
